Patmos Junior School

Patmos school begun in 2007 through the efforts Mr Richard Wanjala the school administrator and a group of dedicated local community members who shared a common vision to support children coming from marginalized backgrounds through education. Despite operating under exceptionally difficult circumstances, the school has managed to thrive due to the commitment of the former head teacher now the school administrator, board of management and the teaching staff.

A.C.K. Madeleine Community Centre, Bungoma

ACK Madeleine Community Center is located in Mechimeru Location in Bungoma County, in the Western region of Kenya. It was established in 2006 by the Forsberg family based in Sweden. In 2008, the school got support from donors to purchase 5 acres of land and was relocated to its current location in Sango area, Mechimeru location. In 2016, the management was handed over to the ACK Diocese of Bungoma by the Forsberg family, and the school was renamed ACK Madeleine Forsberg Academy.

Naisoya, Narok

Yatima Outreach begun it’s operations in Naisoya Narok County in late 2020. The main goal for the Naisoya program is to expand access to education through holistic educational interventions. The idea of this program was perceived through the archbishop of the Anglican church of Kenya and Yatima Outreach Organization with the aim of supporting orphans and vulnerable children in his home village who will otherwise lack an opportunity to reach their full potential, due to the existing circumstances such as the predominant practice of harmful cultural practices e.g FGM, early marriages, extreme poverty among other challenges.

Elvice possessed exceptional intelligence and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. However, his family’s limited financial means seemed to stand in the way of his aspirations for quality education. Despite the obstacles, Elvice’s determination and a fortunate turn of events opened the door to a life-changing opportunity. This is Elvice’s story.

 

Roseline is a single Mother of 2 girls aged 13 years and 9 years old and are pupils at Patmos School. She dropped out during her second year of secondary school. She later attempted adult learning but this was not forthcoming due to increased responsibilities that come with parenthood. This is Roseline’s Story.

Vivian sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, and emerged the top student at Patmos school with 366 marks out of the possible 500. Here is her story of how her hope was restored.

Velma is 18 years from a family of 6. She is the first born. She completed her grade 8 year 2020/21 and comes from a vulnerable background and lives with her grandparents. This is Velma’s story.

COVID-19

Following the confirmation of the first Covid-19 case in Kenya in Mid-March 2020, the government urged its citizens to adhere to WHO’s directives on handwashing, wearing masks, hygiene and physical/social distancing. The hardest hit counties at the time were Nairobi and Mombasa.
