ACK Madeleine Students Join in Celebrating the Day of the African Child at Masinde Muliro Stadium

On 10th June, ACK Madeleine students joined hundreds of other children from across the region in marking the official launch of the Day of the African Child at Masinde Muliro Stadium, Bungoma. The celebration was presided over by the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Children Welfare Services, Madam Carren Agengo.

This year’s event brought together schools, child welfare organisations, and government representatives to highlight the rights and welfare of children across the African continent. While addressing the children, Madam Agengo emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of every child in Kenya.

ACK Madeleine students were actively involved in the celebrations, showcasing their talents and engaging with their peers from different counties.

The Day of the African Child is commemorated every year to honour the memory of students who lost their lives during the Soweto Uprising in South Africa in 1976. It also serves as a reminder to continuously push for better policies, education, and care for African children.
