EDUCATION

EDUCATION

The purpose of Yatima is to increase access to education for orphans and vulnerable children across Kenya. This is done through access, retention, and provision of a  child-friendly school environment to OVC’s across Kenya every year.

The education dream is realized through the following interventions;

Educational Support

This involves payment of school levies to students in graduate and sponsorship programs, support with school learning materials such as stationery, school uniforms and other learning requirements.

School Feeding Program

Students in graduate and sponsorship programs receive breakfast and lunch on a daily basis through the school feeding program.

Psycho Social Support

Our children come from backgrounds full of emotionally draining issues such as domestic violence, different forms of abuse and neglect thus Yatima provides on going psycho-social support services to address these issues so that they are able to cope and concentrate in class.

Impact Created

Through educational support, over 20 students who sat grade 12 exams passed very well and were able to attain direct university admission entry points to pursue different courses of their choice

Education Sponsorship

Our education program offers a Sponsorship initiative that supports Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) from PP1 to Grade 8, and a Graduate program that assists OVCs in Grades 9 to 12. Additionally, we have a post-graduate program designed to help students pursue further studies after completing Grade 12.

Sponsorship Program

Graduate Program

The program started in 2015 with the primary goal of providing quality education to orphans and vulnerable children. Currently, over 570 children from PP1 to Grade 8 are receiving sponsorship to access quality education. Our interventions include identifying vulnerable children, enrolling them in school, covering their school fees, providing learning materials, and offering mentorship and ongoing counseling to ensure they remain in school until completion.

This program supports students from Grade 9 to Grade 12, with over 180 currently benefiting from various forms of assistance across different schools. The aim is to ensure their holistic well- being and pave the way for a brighter future. Support for these students includes covering school levies, providing learning materials, and offering ongoing psychosocial support through guidance and counseling. During school holidays, the program extends beyond academics, offering career guidance, counseling, and mentorship to equip students with essential life skills that prepare them for future growth and success.

Post Graduates

The post-graduate program assists students in continuing their education beyond Grade 12, to help them achieve self-reliance and economic sustainability. Currently, the program supports over 55 students enrolled in various institutions of higher learning, enabling them to pursue diverse courses and build brighter futures.
