British High Commissioner Visits Nairoshi Integrated Community Centre

International Day of the Girl Child Celebrations

The Nairoshi Project Centre staff, along with five girls, had the privilege of attending the International Day of the Girl event held at Naireke Enkare on Tuesday, September 20, 2023. Notably, Ipato Surum, the Chair of the ANTI-FGM board, graced the event as the guest of honor, alongside other esteemed guests..

NGO conference held at KICC from 5th to 6th June

The program officer and sponsorship coordinator had the opportunity to attend the annual NGO conference held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on 5th and 6th June. This was an experience that proved to be very significant for the organization as the two officers were able to engage, create networks and partnerships with different organizations that complimented the work done by Yatima Outreach. 

Mike Douris Tuition and Administrative Block

May 24th 2023 was a momentous occasion as Yatima Outreach Organization director Mr. Tom Wambulwa officially handed over the newly constructed Mike Douris Tuition and Administration block to the children, staff and community at ACK Madeleine Community Centre in Bungoma, Mechimeru.

Orphan Outreach Visit to Kenya

Yatima Outreach Organization hosted Mr. Mortimer Jones, Orphan Outreach Programs director in the country. He began his tour by visiting Patmos Cottage School on the 13.03.2023 and interacted with the staff and learners and the Post Graduate students who transitioned from Patmos School and are now in different universities. He then visited the corporate office on March 14, 2023, where he met with the Sponsorship officer and his team, Projects Officer and Finance Officer to talk with them and learn more about how their specific departments were doing.

Team Building 2022

Yatima Outreach Organization held its annual team building activity on the 1 st December and 2 nd December 2022. It brought together Yatima Outreach employees from all its centers within and outside Nairobi. The team building started with a presentation by the director on Sustainable performance. He highlighted 3 key points namely equitability, meaningfulness and validity that will ensure sustainability in employee performance.

Nairobi International Book Fair

On Thursday, 29 th September the Project Officer, Finance Officer and Communications Assistant attended the Nairobi International Book Fair (NIBF) 2022 at the Sarit Centre expo hall. The purpose of attending the event was to create partnerships and benchmark with key publishers on the E-Learning system.

Transforming Lives in Naisoya, Narok, through provision of clean water

On 2nd July, Yatima Outreach Organization in collaboration with Orphan Outreach launched and handed over a borehole water project to the residents of Naisoya community in Narok. The project is set to significantly improve water services for more than 18,000 residents of Naisoya.

Patmos School’s Donor Visits

On 3rd June 2022, Patmos School had a special visit by Mr. Stephen Spencer, the donor who funded the construction of the new Patmos School building. He also expressed his gratitude towards the administration and staff for their commitment in supporting the learners to attain quality education . 

A.C.K. Madeleine Classroom, Admin Block and Abolition Block Construction 

On 2nd June 2022, Mr. Tom Wambulwa signed and handed over the contract for the construction of classrooms, administration block and abolition block in A.C.K. Madeleine Centre, Bungoma County.

The centre then held a special ground breaking ceremony on 10th June 2022

Partnership Visit

On Saturday 19th March, the project officer and the sponsorship coordinator paid a partnership visit to Paul Wanjigi Alpine High School in Naivasha after the founder and manager of the School visited Yatima in late 2021 to bench mark with Yatima on the best way to go about establishing a unique secondary school that will offer wholistic secondary school education to orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya.

Child Protection

In the months of October and December 2021 ,Yatima Outreach Organization trained   teachers and school workers  at Patmos school and A.C.K Madeleine Bungoma Respectively, following  the training needs assessment report  recommendation done in partnership with Daystar university.   

Management Workshop

Yatima Outreach Organization on the 10th of February held a strategic validation workshop.

Over 176 Children Get Sponsorship in Kenya!

We thank God that we surpassed our target where over 170 children got sponsors through the campaign and will be able to accesses education. Indeed hope has been restored!

It’s Back to School Season

Despite the changes brought about by the pandemic, we are delighted that all our graduate students reported back to school in the first week of January and are ready for third term studies.

Effects of COVID-19 on mental health at Patmos School, Mathare.

 

On 17th January a team of researchers from Ministry of Education, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Kenya National Commission for UNESCO and Kenyan Universities visited our school in Mathare _Patmos to conduct a research on the effects of COVID-19 on mental health and psychosocial support .

Yatima Outreach and Each One Teach One (EOTO) Team Collaboration

Yatima Outreach was delighted to welcome the Each One Teach One (EOTO) team from the United States, led by Nitesh Patel on March 25th and 26th, 2024. During their visit, the team had the opportunity to visit Patmos School in Mathare and Nairoshi Integrated Center in Narok. EOTO generously donated a new generator to Patmos School to help address the long-standing electricity challenges that the school faces

Yatima Outreach and Daystar University join forces through a momentous MOU signing

On March 12th, 2024, Yatima Outreach and Daystar University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Daystar University Nairobi campus. The agreement entails internship opportunities for Daystar students, collaborative research ventures, and staff capacity building offered by the university. 

ED TECH Summit 2023

 On 20th September 2023,  five students from Patmos School, participated in the Kenya EdTech Summit 2023 held at CEMASTEA Karen. The Summit was dedicated to the deployment, integration, and utilization of online IT products for educational purposes. Longhorn Publishers, conducted a product demonstration that involved the active participation of students from Patmos, who showcased their IT skills during the demo.

Fundraising Event for Dr.Pike Ropper Medical Centre Expansion

Yatima Outreach Organization successfully hosted its first-ever local fundraising event on September 2, 2023, at the ACK Madeleine School in Bungoma. The primary objective of this event was to raise funds for the expansion and enhancement of the Dr. Pike Ropper Medical Centre.

Orphan Outreach Visit to Kenya

Orphan Outreach team led by President Emeritus Mr. Mike Douris made visits to Patmos school, A.C.K. Madeleine and Nairoshi Community Centre for the Launch od three different projects in the respective areas from 17th January to 21st January 2023.

Training on sustainability and maintenance of Nairoshi water project

On 29 th August 2022, Yatima Outreach Country Director in collaboration with Pump Tech Solutions organized for a training with Naisoya community. The training focused on sustainability of the water project and bore hole maintenance. The project contractor Mr. Kenneth Ngotho of PSL Water Engineers Ltd facilitated the training.

Yatima Outreach Launches 2022-2025 Strategic Plan

Yatima Outreach Organization launched its 1st ever strategic plan on 1st July 2022 at the Sarova Panafric Hotel. The strategic plan seeks to provide a framework for the next 4 years with emphasis on securing the livelihoods of OVCs and their communities and the appropriate road map towards achieving the set goals.

Orphan Outreach Team Visits Patmos School, A.C.K. Madeleine 

The Orphan Outreach team led by the President Mr. Rey Diaz, and Vice president of programs Katherine Cheng, visited Patmos School and A.C.K. Madeleine between the 28th and 30th of June, 2022. They were pleased by the progress and the efforts put by the team in ensuring that they are working towards securing the lives of OVCs and their communities

Launch of Borehole Project

On 11 th May 2022, a borehole drilling project was flagged off by the Country Director in Narok County at the Nairoshi community project. The project is in anticipation to mitigate water shortage both for domestic and agricultural use.

Schools Re-open for Term one

Learning for all primary and secondary schools in Kenya are set to open for the new academic calendar next week, 25 th April 2022 after students had close to 2 months holiday break. Schools across the country are preparing to usher in students who are transitioning to their next classes.

KCPE Results

On the 28th of March 2021 Education CS George Magoha released the anticipated KCPE examination, the results came as a blessing to the students of Patmos School, Mathare and A.C.K. Madeleine, Bungoma.

Nairoshi & Bungoma Visits

The project officer visited Nairoshi Program in Naisoya Narok and ACK Madeleine Community Centre in Bungoma  to monitor progress of ongoing interventions on the ground.

The Great Commandement Workshop 

On Saturday 26th of February the project officer and communications intern had the opportunity to attend the Great commandment workshop which was hosted at Parklands Baptist Church Nairobi by Global Orphan Relief in partnership with Parklands Baptist Church.

Lone Star Furnishings Donates Furniture to Yatima Outreach

Lone Star Furnishings and Orphan Outreach donated assorted furniture equipment through Buckner Kenya  and handed over the furniture to our country director on the 13th of January 2022.

WCSG Days of Hope

25th January 2022 marks the beginning of “Days Of Hope” which runs from 25th – 27th January hosted by WCSG. Please listen in and hear Orphan Outreach as they aim to find 165 Kenyan children a sponsor so that they can go to school.

2021 Christmas Celebration

 

The year 2021 was a great year and we are grateful to the Almighty God for his protection. In December, the organization hosted Christmas celebrations for all the beneficiaries as a way to show love and compassion during the festive season. The celebrations took place on the 18th of December 2021 at Patmos School and the 22nd of December 2021 at the cooperate office, Nairoshi, and A.C.K Madeline Respectively.
